I met this amazing human being in a photography group I am so proud to be a part of. We instantly clicked, sharing so many photos of our kids and getting to know each other over the last year as they grew up. However, this was all online. We had never met in person… until now.
It just so happened that baby number two was due in a matter of weeks and what better opportunity to finally meet than to do a maternity shoot. Just mumma, son and belly (sorry, Dad).
We met in this stunning location unknown to what it would actually be like. With both of us following so many wonderful Melbourne photographers, we are always looking at the backdrop and trying to guess where they are. This little gem is a popular one and was well worth the drive.
Despite the haze of smoke in the air, we had such a lovely morning. At every little turn there was a completely different outlook. We went from fields to pines, grassland to ferns.
I have to admit, moments of this photoshoot were a challenge. It had nothing to do with the gorgeous subjects you see in front of you but it had everything to do with my two little humans. Hanging off me or running away to forage through animal scat, I had one eye looking through the lens and directing while the other worked it’s peripheral vision, scanning to ensure they stayed safe and close… just not THAT close. At one point I had my 1 year old strapped to be, the 4 year old in one arm and the other hand shooting away happily. INSANITY.
I’m pleased to say I came away with a few bonuses – gorgeous photos, the joy of meeting a friend in the flesh and my core strength has never been stronger! WOO!
To my dear friend: Thanks for putting up with me and I can’t wait to meet baby #2 x
